Militant environmental group Sea Shepherd leader Paul Watson on Tuesday suggested Japan was involved in his recent arrest in Germany, as he vowed to continue his campaign against whaling.

Environmentalists criticize Ohio drilling rules
Environmental advocates were among dozens of witnesses lining up to testify Monday on a bill laying out Ohio’s new regulations for horizontal shale drilling and the use of renewable energy.
The testimony before the House Public Utilities Committee was part of a debate on a wide-ranging energy bill that passed the Ohio Senate last week with support of Republicans and some Democrats.

Pro-dam activists lock horns with environmentalists in India
Scores of pro-dam activists on Monday observed a day-long fast alleging that stalled hydro-power projects on Ganga river have “diminished hope of electrification and snatched employment opportunities” in their area. They demanded that the Uttarakhand Legislature pass a resolution seeking their revival. Two Padama Shri awardees along with the activists and locals threatened to go on fast-unto-death, demanding revival of at least 10 near-completed hydel projects. They want work on the 330 MW Alaknanda and 444 MW Vishnugad-Pipalkoti projects to begin again.
