Environmentalist’s departure from Canadian NGO sheds light on tensions felt by green groups
A prominent environmentalist in Canada has been fired from an organization that has staunchly protested the Northern Gateway pipeline after he accused the Prime Minister’s Office of resorting to intimidation tactics against the project’s critics.
The 84th Academy Awards nominations were announced this morning in Beverly Hills, California, and documentary filmmaker Marshall Curry’s “If a Tree Falls: A Story of the Earth Liberation Front,” is officially in the Oscars race, receiving a nomination for Best Documentary Feature. Curry, whose 2005 film “Street Fight,” was also nominated for an Academy Award, directed this inside look at extreme environmentalism with Sam Cullman, who is also the producer and cinematographer.
