On Oct 8-16 a diverse and international group of distinguished women is traveling to the heart of Canada’s climate change debate – the oil sands – to see their communities and talk to the women directly. They are there now.
Follow them as they hear firsthand what it means to live next door to one of the world’s largest oil developments.
The group – led by Nobel Peace Laureate Jody Williams – is interested in learning about the impact of oil sands expansion and related tanker and pipeline projects on women and their communities – perspectives that are rarely heard in mainstream media. The groups includes Ikal Angelei from Kenya and the Friends of Lake Turkana.
