Parker Liautaud is a 19-year-old polar explorer and climate change campaigner, and the Leader of the Willis Resilience Expedition.

According to the Willis Resilience website for the expedition, Parker has done three expeditions to the North Pole since turning 15 years old. His expeditions aim to draw attention to the immediate need for action to address climate change. Since 2011, Parker has also partnered with academic institutions to undertake climate research on each of his expeditions.

Parker is trekking 640 kilometers from the coast of Antarctica to the South Pole and attempt to set a new world record. During the Expedition Parker and his team will conduct invaluable scientific research aimed at exploring the impact of climate change. By uncovering new scientific data and enhancing our understanding of a changing world the Expedition is deeply entwined with Willis’ core business, which is to offer risk management solutions and strategies to help clients overcome challenges and build resilience for a risky world, according to the website.

Since 2010, Parker has been profiled by publications as diverse as Vanity Fair, the Independent, and the New York Times. He has also been interviewed for television on CNN and the BBC, among others. He is fast gathering a global following with over 20,000 followers on Twitter. In September 2013, Parker addressed the Social Good Summit with Former US Vice President Al Gore.

Parker studies Geology and Geophysics at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.

The Willis Resilience Expedition is Parker Liautaud’s most challenging expedition yet.
