The Ojnare Forest in the northern Gotland in Sweden is under attack from industrialization.
According to the campaign, “the majority agrees that this area has nature worth protecting and preserving. Meanwhile the company Nordkalk did get allowance in the Supreme Environmental Court (Mark- och miljööverdomstolen) to make a limestone quarry in this area. The Swedish Environmental Protecting Agency, EPA, specialized in preserving nature and the environment, has demanded that the area should be protected according to the EU Habitats Directiv as well as the Directiv for water.”
