Say 'no' to the Keystone XL pipelineActivists and other supporters of 350.org will be rallying today, Sunday November 18, outside the White House in Washington, DC., to say “no” to the Keystone XL pipeline that is destined to bring dirty oil from the tar sands of Alberta, Canada.

The aim is to rally at Freedom Plaza, Washington DC., to send a message to U.S. President Barack Obama that the people do not want to be part of a pipeline that could further pollute the environment but also lead to drastically more fossil fuels contibuting to the build up of CO2 in the atmosphere.

Information and sign up can be found at 350.org.

The rally comes as part of the “Do the Math” tour conducted by environmentalist Bill McKibben and 350.org aimed at encouraging Americans to kick the fossil fuel habit.

Obviously, there is no easy solution for a society so deeply addicted to the use of fossil fuels. But the message of 350.org is strong efforts must be made to develop cleaner energy options and to consider serious changes in people’s damaging consumer lifestyles.
